During the visit, he reiterated Allied solidarity with Gulf partners and strong condemnation of Iran’s indiscriminate attacks across the region. Mr. Colomina shared views on NATO’s long-standing relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain and on the prospects for further strengthening cooperation in areas such as defence investment, countering unmanned aircraft systems, resilience, and maritime security. The Special Representative also discussed preparations for the NATO Summit in Ankara next month. “Allied leaders will address key NATO’s priorities, increased defence investment, more defence industrial production, and continued support to Ukraine,” he said. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are members of NATO’s Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, a partnership forum established more than 20 years ago to help contribute to long-term global and regional security through political dialogue and practical cooperation.
