Click the button to return to the page you were on and log in with your new password. 08 September 2011 1 MIN READ NATO’s Military Committee (MC), led by Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, visited Kosovo on 8 September where it was welcomed by Major General Erhard Bühler, Commander of KFOR on his last official working day as COMKFOR. He informed the highest military representatives of NATO member states on the latest developments in Kosovo, especially in the North. At KFOR Headquarters the MC met with Mr. Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister of Kosovo and Mr. Agim Çeku, Minister of the Kosovo Security Forces who briefed the committee on the current security situation and on how their government is dealing with it. Also present were Mr. Javad Zarifi, the United Nation Secretary General Senior Representative (UNSGSR), Mr. Bout de Marnhac, the head of EULEX and Mr. Pieter Feith, Head of the International Civilian Office who gave their perspectives on the situation. Concluding the visit Admiral Di Paola expressed his appreciation for the work done by KFOR and KSF. He emphasized the need for further cooperation between all actors in the field. “The recent upraises of violence prove the need for NATO and partners to continue to provide a safe and secure environment in the region. It also shows the clear need for cooperation among all actors in order to guarantee the people of Kosovo a peaceful and stable environment, freedom of movement and security. It is necessary to continue to coordinate all the actions having impact on the security situation. NATO and contributing nations are committed to the security of this region.” As Major General Bühler will hand over the command of KFOR on 9th of September to Major General Drews, the Military Committee Chairman took the opportunity to thank the outgoing COMKFOR for the excellent work done over the past year and wished his successor all the best with his new assignment.
