This payment request will bring the funds paid out to Germany under the Recovery and Resilience Facility to €24.4 billion, including €2.3 billion in pre-financing. EU agri-food exports totalled €238.4 billion in 2025, a 1% increase compared to 2024 (+ €2.3 billion). The UK remained the top destination for EU agri-food exports, accounting for 23% of the total (€55.6 billion). Among other key developments, exports grew significantly to Switzerland (+ €1.2 billion, +7%) and Türkiye (+ €1.1 billion, +16%). Cereal preparations, dairy products, and wine continued to lead EU exports, while cocoa, coffee, and chocolate saw the strongest value increases, largely due to rising prices. EU agri-food imports rose to €188.6 billion, up 9% compared to 2024 (+ €15.3 billion). The UK, Brazil, and the US remained the top suppliers, with cocoa, coffee, and fruits and nuts driving import growth due to higher global prices. The EU maintained an overall agri-food trade surplus of €49.9 billion in 2025. This was €13.3 billion lower than the 2024 overall surplus, primarily due to increased import prices of key commodities like coffee, cocoa, fruits and nuts. The EU remains the world's first exporter of agri-food products and was also the top global importer in 2025. Agri-food trade represented 9% of EU total exports, 7.5% of EU total imports, and 37% of the EU overall trade surplus in 2025. More details as well as detailed tables are available in the latest edition of the monthly EU agri-food trade report . The scheme aims to encourage publishers to use pooled distribution methods in order to reduce costs and maintain a balanced territorial press distribution network, ensuring all citizens have access to the national press. It would increase the dissemination of reliable, high-quality information at a reasonable price , while ensuring media pluralism, democratic debate and cultural diversity . Under the scheme, the aid will take the form of direct grants. The scheme will be open to press publishers using a single-copy distribution network. The scheme will finance up to 40% of the distribution costs of national daily and weekly newspapers of political and general interest. It also targets periodicals providing sports information. The scheme will run until 31 December 2030. The Commission assessed the scheme under EU State aid rules, in particular Article 107(3)(c) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which allows Member States to support the development of certain economic activities under certain conditions. The Commission found that the scheme is necessary and appropriate to facilitate the development of press publishing and distribution activities. The Commission also found that the scheme is proportionate as it is limited to the minimum necessary and will have a limited impact on competition and trade between Member States. On this basis, the Commission approved the French scheme under EU State aid rules. The non-confidential version of today's decision will be made available under the case number SA.118124 in the State aid register on the Commission's competition website once any confidentiality issues have been resolved.
